Day 1: 16/06/2011

Day 1: 16/06/2011
Tranquility

Day 1

I decided a while back that I wanted to start a 365 photography project Seeing others inspired me to take this step in photography, as i have been at university studying illustration the last three years but leaning more towards photography by the end of my degree and even doing my dissertation on documentary photography.
I wanted the starting day to be a day which meant something to me so I decided that today, the 16th June, which would have been my Mother's birthday who sadly passed away nearly 3 years ago, would be fitting. This project is in her memory and a gift to her.
The main photograph i have chosen today was taken in Central Park in New York city. At the moment I am on a 5 week holiday staying with my Aunty Parvaneh and Uncle Richard. I came here with my partner David and our daughter Rosina. The photography is of a small motor powered boat which people of all ages were sailing around a pond in the middle of the park. It is a peaceful photograph full of tranquility, hence the title. In the middle of the big city there is peace found by all in this wonderful park.
The two photographs below show the bulk of what I did today which was a photo-shoot, which I did for my Uncle Richard, photographing
the filming of a video being made for the Kickstarter website for his product Tricky notebooks. It was a long day but good experience
documenting a film being made.

I have realized that i blogged my first day as the main post, so now day one of my project will always be at the top of the blog and the rest will go in order from newest post to oldest, just so you don't get confused!

Day 45: Slide

Had a great day with Maia and Rosina, we got up and lazed around then we had a massive fry up for breakfast. Then this afternoon we went to a play center called little acorns which is an activity area and free for adults to play :) We did everything there was and got really into it and Rosina had a fantastic time. We got back and had a nice rest, in our flat which is like a sauna at the moment!
The main photograph today is of Rosina and Maia going down the big slide and I was going down first taking photographs behind me while trying to slowly slide down without being knocked into by them, its quite a hard job I can tell you. I also wanted to add a few other photographs from today, one more of slide photography and one of Maia copying Rosina's every move.

Day 44: Death by chocolate

Had a lazy morning this morning as I wasn't feeling too well, this afternoon I felt a bit better and went to town to send Amelea her birthday card. Then Rosina and I picked Maia up from the station :) she has come to stay for a few days which makes me very happy. When we got back to the flat we decided to make chocolate brownies, the ingredients were sickly just to see what we were putting in. We also made a gordoue chocolate fudge sauce to go on top, and had one as soon as they were ready which is the photograph in my blog. Far to much sauce on my brownie and we are only having din ner now as we were so full from eating brownies earlier.

Day 43: Barometer

Rosina and I had a nice morning going to music group at the library, she was a cheeky monkey and got in the box with all the instruments, which is a small red plastic toy box, the funny thing is, is that there is a picture of me about her age, in the same sort of box also red. Like Mother like Daughter I think so. I also got the the first Harry Potter book to read, because except for the last two I have never read the books, I feel its about time. After David got home from work we all went to Mothercare and got Rosina her potty so she can start to learn how to use it.
Today's picture is of a barometer on the wall of a building in worcester, which I thinki is a wonderful thing. There are many ramdom things on the walls of the buildings around the city center of Worcester which I'm sure will take place in my blog along the way. You just have to look up which most people don't do!

Day 42: Melon

Had to go to the doctors today for an asthma review, I haven't had asthma since I was a child so i'm annoyed that it seems to have come back again.Spent the rest of the day, sorting out a few bits that needed doing, then Rosina and I went to meet David from work and did some food shopping for the week.
Today's picture is of a watermelon which David craved a heart out of the middle for me, I thought it looked more focused and crisp on a black background.

Day 41: Sealife

Had a brilliant day today, David treated Rosina and I to a trip to birmingham. We got there around midday and had a lovely lunch in a cafe, then went to the sealife center. Rosina loved it and enjoy walking round (holding our hands) looking at all the fish, the tanks were mainly glass to the floor so she got a very good view, of course we picked her up for the things she couldn't see. Afterwards we met up with Lauren and went round her flat for a few cups of tea and a good catch up :)
The main photograph today is of one of the tanks in the sea life center. It was curled and few of beautiful colours making a very good image.
I also wanted to add more photographs from today, one of the hermit crab that Rosina seemed to really like, and of the very cute otters at feeding time, which I had to fight with a crowd to even see.

Day 40: Swan

Rosina had her jabs today, which made me feel very sad when she started crying as they went in, although I know there for her own good. As she was such a brave girl I brought her the book of Horton hears a who, and we are going to the seaside tomorrow as long as the weather is good. This afternoon we went to feed the ducks and swans. Mostly swans as there is more in the river, Rosina kept trying to eat the bread as we fed them which was very cute.
Today's picture is of one of the swans, I am trying to keep photographing different subjects and want to start using more techniques and styles in photography so would be greatful for ideas.

Day 39: Seagulls

Had a busy morning filling in forms with David before work. Then this afternoon me and Rosina got on with the cleaning, we decided to go to town to run some errans but the lift was broken. considering we live on the top floor getting down the stairs with Rosina and the pram seemed an impossible task so I had to carry her around town which she loved. When we got back it was near dinner time and as I was in the kitchen I turned around to see Rosina walking over to me. She is so close to walking properly, its very exciting.
Today's photograph is of the evil seagulls which all live on the roof tops near our balcony, when it was mating season and the chicks were born we got attacked every time we went outside.

Day 38: Celebration

Had a nice day with David and Rosina, David treated us to a Nando's lunch, and then we took a wonder around town and saw this celebration. I think it was a wedding but I can't be sure (if anyone knows they can enlighten me) there was a so many people walking up the street with a drum band holding flags.
The photograph I took is part of the celebration I saw the composition isn't the best as the flag is half covering the little boys face, but part of street photography is partly sponaeity, you can't aways predict the images your going to get.

Day 37: Sunset

I've not done much today, had a lazy morning while Rosina and Tom played and then it was time for Rosina and I to go home, so we had to take a long train home. Luckily David had finished work by the time we got home so we did a bit of shopping. This evening we took a walk to the river to see the sun set where I took today's photograph

Day 36: Under my umbrella

Today has been a nice day, had a lazy morning as Rosina kept me awake most the night, then at 1 Tom came home from work so we all went to town and had ice cream for lunch. We also went shopping and got some good deals in the sales, which i always like even though I can't afford cloths really, but I spent last night winnings on a new jumper (in the photograph) for Rosina. This evening Daddy came round to see us and we went to T.G.I friedays as the resturant we love had burnt down! Then T.G.I Fridays turned out to be awful so we left without paying and eating our main. Then got a takeaway indian and finally had a good meal.
Today's photograph is taken on Tom camera and was while we were finding a place to eatin and it was slightly raining.

Day 35: Shuffle

Had a lovely day today, went to see Sam in her new house :) and got to meet her very cute cat Polly. i got there in time for breakfast so Chris made us all oat cakes, which I love. Then after catching up sam and I went to see the new Harry Potter film. We were both a bit dissapointed with the end, but thought overall it was a good film. I now want to finally read the books (any one in worcester have them, which I could borrow?) I went back to derby after where Roxy was looking after Rosina, and we had dinner with Susan and Tom, then lots of Andy's and Ash came round for a poker game where I won 5 pounds, coming second woo.
Today's photograph is of Susan shuffling the cards I am very happy with the image, as it has a reflection to show the pack upside down. I feel the photograph has good composition.

Day 34: Roxy

Today went very slowly at first, and I managed to do more then I planed including clean out Barry's cage so David wouldn't get cross with me as he is on Barry patrol while I am at Roxy and Tom's house. Then this afternoon Rosina and I came to derby :)
The photograph today is a snap shoot of Roxy waiting for us by Derby station, very pretty sister.

Day 33: Up in the roof tops

Had a bit of a ditsy start to the day, and intended on taking Rosina to music group but managed to get the wrong time and turn up after it finished. So we decided to stay and play in the library as a lot of children were there anyway, we also read some books towards our american summer book challenge which we are sending through Parvaneh (miss you lots kiss). Tama came round this afternoon which was nice as have not seen her in a while, she brought Ro a very cute peanut monkey and a book about the zoo to remind us of our trip :).
Today's picture is of Rosina and Tama on my balcony of my flat, having a cuddle with her new moneky.

Day 32: when I wake up

Today has been a busy day full of viewing different properties. We are thinking of moving to somewhere a little bigger and preferably unfurnished, but are having trouble finding the standard and quality we're after. Most to let properties seem to have been done up very cheap and shoddily.
Today's photograph, as the title suggests, is what I saw when I woke up this morning. A very cute but naughty baby who crept into our bed during the night. The photo isn't fantastic quality because I snapped it using the first camera to hand. My iphone.

Day 31: Barry

Today I got Rosina a new hamster, I decided it would be nice for her to have a pet to learn to be gentle to animals and to have a little friend. I always remember my life with pets including many a hamster and I want Rosina to grow up the same. As we can't get a kitten right now a hamster was a good first step. David was a shocked but grew to love him straight away and named him Barry which feels perfect for him.
The picture itself is of Barry and taking photographs of a new hamsters is harder then taking photographs of children, as he is running around everywhere. Luckily he is very friendly and lets us play with him already.

Day 30: Engagement

Congratulations to my friends Leanne and Matt, Matt proposed last night, and they came round today and showed me the beautiful ring. So today's photograph is of the lovely couples hands and the engagement ring. I wanted to show there love thorugh there linking hands but also focus on the ring itself.
Other then seeing Leanne and Matt, I have not done much today, Rosina and I feed the ducks and looked round the shops as there are alot of sales on at the moment. Then we watch the first Harry Potter film with David when he got home. Sadly Rosina is still being difficult with sleep and is refusing to go to bed on time again, hopfully she kicks this bad habit soon.

Day 29: Happy baby

Had a good first day back in Worcester, Leanne came round to visit me and Ro so we went to the library to music group. Rosina seemed shy today which is odd for her, but there was alot more people then usual. I spent the rest of the day food shopping, and generaly sorting out the house.
Today picture of Rosina and Leanne after we did the food shop, having a cuddle and a play on the sofa. Thing Rosina was happy to see Leanne again :)

Day 28: Lets play

Had a productive morning booking house viewings for Monday, going to be one busy day with 6 places to view. then Rosina and I went to meet Gabby and Rina for lunch at the tree. It was nice to catch up and have some girly time. Also went back to mine for tea, Rina loves her tea. I had tog o back to Worcester this evening as it was my Dad only chance to take me, so now I am home.
Today's photograph is of Gabby and Rosina playing together in the garden. It was slightly damp so I got a damp bum taking the photographs, but they had fun playing with feathers and flowers.

Day 27: Rubber ducks

I'm am one sleepy mummy today Rosina still hasn't got over her leg lag, and at the moment she is sitting on my lap while I do my blog because yet again she won't sleep.... Hopfully she will soon as she needs her beauty sleep and her Mummy does too. Had a good day catchingup with Gabby who brought round cream cakes so I was very pleased :)
Had a fun idea to photograph a british duck at bath time, to represent our return to England :) and also bath time is Rosina happiest time of day I think so need to include it in my blog.

Day 26: Zoo animals

Today was Rosina's England party. Sam, Roxy, Lauren, Ella and Heidi all came round and gave Rosina lovely birthday presents which she thanks them for :) Then off to the zoo we went, the English weather managed to hold out for us and just be a bit chilly and windy. We even managed to have a picnic, which we had enough food to feed a hungry wolf pack! It was a lovely day, and Rosina seemed to really enjoy herself too :)
Today's photographs were so hard to chose, as I had taken so many of the animals, and the girls. So I picked a few of the best animal photographs. As i'm sure i'll use the girls again at some point in this project. But I will post the rest on facebok :)

Day 25: Ask

Today we were all very tiired, went to bed with Ro at 2.30am so she didsn't get up till 12, think the jet lag is really effecting her. This afternoon we went to David's house to see more family, and Rosina got more presents. I left at 6 to meeet the girls, so we could go for dinner and for a drink and catch up. When we got back Rosina was still awake and took her first 2 steps! Very proud of my little angel.
Today's main picture is of Ella dinner at Ask. I feel the photograph would benifit from being black and wh ite or having something more done to it, but as i said yesterday I have no tools to be able too.

Day 24: Plane

Today has been a very long day, we ended up having our flights cancelled and had too re-booked to an earlier flight which made yesterday very rushed. The only plus side is that we got upgraded to bussiness class. We got back to England 6am English time, and have been on and off napping most the day. We went to David's parents house for sunday lunch, and we also had an early tea with his Gran, Aunt and Uncle and brother Adam as a small birthday thing for Rosina. Who got many more presents.
The photograph is of the plan wing, sory about the quality. I am staying at my Dad's this week, so no photosho or anything so lets see how it goes.

Day 23: Bon Voyage America

As we are flying home today, I decided I needed to blog super early in the day or I wouldn't be able to do it today, as we are going to leave in the morning to go to a shop called Osh Kosh B'gosh to get Rosina some cloths, then to Brooklyn as I mentioned yesterday, before we fly back to the UK. So I say goodbye USA and thank you Parvaneh and Richard for having us all, we shall miss you. Also good bye to all our american friends old and new and we hope to see you all soon.
My picture today is of Parvaneh and Richard's studio/Erin's rented bedsit. Our beautiful American home.

Day 22: Beep beep

Last day at Parvaneh and Richard's house today, we are flying home tomorrow so spending the day in Brooklyn seeing a friend Carmie. Today was mostly spent packing and making sure we had all our stuff, over five weeks it manages to spread all over the place. We also went to a beautiful shop which Parvaneh and Richards friends own, it full of hand made products and I got Roxy a present from there :).
The picture today is just something funny, when I came outside to get into the car David had put Rosina in the drivers seat, and she automatically held the wheel so I didn't to take some shoots of it.

Day 21: You've got mail

What a beautiful day oooooo, except Rosina and I have come down with a stomach bug which isn't very nice. Yet we still made the most of the last of our holiday and went on a lunch/baby play date at Cory and Amelea's house. It was sad to say goodbye as Rosina has made such good friends and really interacted with Amelea, but we promised to stay in touch and see each other when were in the country, or if they ever come to England.
Today's main photograph is of a US mail box, I always found it strange how they weren't in the front door's of the houses, and wonder if people get there mail nicked often! Quite a dull subject I know but something I can't photograph in England so why not.
I also wanted to add one of Cory and Amelea, our new american friends.

Day 20: Splish, Splash, Splosh

Going to miss the beautiful heat of here when we head back to the UK on saturday, today was too hot to even be upstairs with the fans on. Had a lovely day, took Rosina to the library this morning where they have a baby group with singing, book reading and play really old cartoons which are lovely too watch. Then this after we went to Elaine's pool for a swim, the water is warm compared to the lakes we swim in which was lovely, and it meant Rosina staying in the pool for a longer time then usual. Rosina was showing off with her standing skills again today which are improving day by day. Richard and myself were like her personal paparazzi, which she loved.
The main photograph today is of Rosina and David in the pool. I wanted to capture the crispness of the water which, enchants you to jump in, even more so on a hot day like today.
I also wanted to add a short series of photographs of Rosina standing. After I took them I realised if I had used a tripod it could have been like a short animation, maybe something to try in the future.

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Day 19: Chipmunks

I've had a lovely day today, it has been very hot so this morning we spent relaxing in the porch, Rosina had a photo shoot off Richard and they were playing all morning. Then this afternoon Parvaneh, Rosina and I, meet Leah and Sonya and went to 'The big deep' which is a lake in Woodstock where everyone goes swimming. It was quite warm in the water, and I kept floating on my back and Sonya would shout "come back Parisa" so I would have to swim back quickly. Playing with Sonya makes me very excited for the future when Rosina gets older and can play properly, not that she isn't lovely now.
I sadly forgot to take my camera swimming, something I must not do too often now i'm doing this project. But after swimming I walked round the house and garden and saw many chipmunks, which you don't get in England so thought I would try and capture some images of the cute rodents.

Day 18: Happy 4th July

As i'm in America we celebrated the 4th July today, we had a small gathering of friends and children. Where we all played and had a lovely dinner. Rosina was amazing today and stood up from the floor without holding on to anything, she kept doing it and was so close to taking her first steps it was amazing, we took videos but sadly no brilliant photographs. Although i'm sure I will get some tomorrow when less people are around. I am so proud of my little girl.
The photographs I chose to put up today are of each little girl. It was so difficult getting a good one of all three, I decided to use a good one of each separately. They just get distracted so easily, but I feel i'm getting a lot better at children's photography now.

Sunday, July 3, 2011

Day 17: Hearts

Today's main photograph is of the kitchen window, with the hanging hearts in front. I always liked the hanging hearts, and every time I walk in I think how they would make a good photograph. As today I wasn't feeling too well, and ended up staying in watching weeds, while everyone else went out. I thought it was my perfect chance to take this photograph.

Saturday, July 2, 2011

Day 16: Cheeky

Zoom Flume! Cheryl took David and I to zoom flume today, which is a water theme park. The weather was brilliant and I finally got a lovely tan after 4 weeks here (you can tell i'm bot into sunbathing). We had a great time, and the tidal wave pool was the best, jumping into the wave and basically acting like kids. Afterwards we went to Chris and Cheryl house for a true 4th July dinner again, which was lovely and Rosina was acting extra cute eating corn on the cob.
Today photograph was not taken on my SLR as i didn't want to risk taking it to zoom flume, but on my panasonic which is still quite a good camera. The photograph is of one of the rides in the park, but is also funny, can you see what I see?
I also wanted to add a photograph of the lovely hamburger we ate at Chris and Cheryl's house.

Friday, July 1, 2011

Day 15: Flowers

Today has been another nice day, we had a quiet morning and did some tidying, then went into Kingston as I needed to buy a memory stick to put my photographs on to take home as I have taken so many while I have been here. I guess this is going to become the norm of over a 100 a day, more if a lot is happening. This evening we went to a friend Helen's house, where her and her husband George made use a traditional 4th July weekend hamburgers and hot dogs. They live in a communal place where they all built the houses together, the gardens are looked after together and there even a building where they can eat together during the week if they want too. It is a beautiful place so we took a walk around, and Rosina got to play on the swings.
A Lilly for my best friend Sam (as they are her favourite flower) is today main photograph, I haven't taken many nature photographs and while I walked through Helen's communal gardens there were so many growing that I decided I wanted to capture, the true colours, and details of some of them.
